ABOUT US

The Musettes is a premiere women's choir based in Nampa, Idaho. We are women of faith who love to share the gift of song with each other and our community. We rehearse weekly and perform in communities throughout the Treasure Valley including Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, and others. From ages 18 to 90, we are mothers, daughters, sisters and friends to each other. The Musettes is a unique sisterhood that supports and loves each other both on and off the stage.

The Musettes was founded in 1960 by the Nampa Musicale, an affiliate of The National Federation of Music Clubs. It was started by women who needed an opportunity for musical expression and sisterhood. The name "Musettes" was suggested as an off-hand way of feminizing The Muses. Since the very beginning, the musical standard for The Musettes has been set high; all songs must be completely memorized and often integrate many layers of harmonies and movements.

In 1965, The Musettes Scholarship Program was introduced. Every year, five scholarships are awarded: two awards go to members of The Musettes, and three awards go to area students grades 8-11.

Being part of The Musettes has inspired and lifted many members to greater musical and personal confidence. Singing and performing well has been, and ever will be, our main objective. The women of the group develop not only musically, but also in many other performance skills. There are opportunities to develop in networking, costuming, staging, choreography, promotions, and organizational activities.

To date, more than 350 women have been a part of The Musettes. The choir has performed over 100 seasonal concerts and awarded thousands of dollars in music scholarships to over 150 students and choir members.
